Preparation begins before the first day
A successful start to the school year is not improvised. With a little planning and attention to detail, you can make this time a positive experience for the whole family.
1. Adjust your sleep schedule
2 weeks in advance, gradually adjust your bedtime and wake-up time. The sudden change of schedule is stressful for children.
2. Involve the child in the preparations
Let him choose the schoolbag, pencil case and notebooks. Feeling in control reduces anxiety about change.
3. Organize your study space
A clean, well-lit and distraction-free desk is essential. Invest in an age-appropriate ergonomic chair.
4. Establish a routine
Create a clear schedule: morning, school, homework, play, reading, bed. Predictability provides security.
5. Talk openly
Ask about expectations, fears and excitement. Listen without minimizing emotions.
6. Prepare the clothes ahead of time
Choose the outfits for the first week together, the night before each day.
7. Plan healthy menus
The school packet matters. Include fruit, sandwiches and water — avoid juices and processed snacks.
8. Reconnect with colleagues
Have a meeting with 2-3 colleagues before school starts to break the ice.
9. Set realistic goals
Not "to be the best", but "to make progress" and "enjoy learning".
10. Be patient
Adaptation takes 2-3 weeks. Provide constant support without excessive pressure.
