STEM — the acronym that redefines education
Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics — the four disciplines that prepare children for the jobs of the future. In Romania, STEM education is gaining ground, but the road is long.
Current situation
According to recent data, only 30% of Romanian schools have functional science laboratories, and access to technology remains unequal between urban and rural environments. However, the results at the international Olympiads demonstrate the enormous potential of Romanian students.
Initiatives that make a difference
More and more NGOs and private companies are investing in STEM education. Robotics clubs, coding workshops and mobile labs reach communities that would otherwise not have access. After-school STEM programs have grown 60% in the last 3 years.
What parents can do
You don't need a home lab. Simple experiments with kitchen materials, free educational apps, and visits to science museums are great starting points. Encourage curiosity and questions - they are the engine of STEM.
The future
The National Curriculum is gradually integrating more STEM elements. By 2028, it is estimated that all schools will have access to digital STEM resources. Educational HUB actively contributes to this goal by providing accessible materials and resources.
